Brockton Day Nursery, “the oldest early education and care center in the Greater Brockton area,” will celebrate 120 years of delivering high quality education and social services designed to assist working families with overcoming life’s obstacles, achieving self-sufficiency, and breaking the cycle of poverty. With our supporters, the community, alumni, and friends, we will celebrate this milestone which began in 1894 with the efforts of the 1894 Club, an organization of young women, guided by Leila Delano Richmond, who devoted themselves to the needs of children whose mothers were forced to work outside the home. Brockton Day Nursery was incorporated in 1907.
Our Tradition of Excellence and our rise to being a leader in education, through NAEYC Accreditation and a Level 3 quality rating through the Massachusetts Quality Rating Improvement System, is an impressive accomplishment, generous in time, money, and fascinating in history. BDN leadership and the membership has been passed down and evolved through generations of students, families, educators, board of directors, and staff. We have prevailed with the support of our community in finding solutions for early education and care for those less fortunate. Please join us in celebrating this tradition of excellence by attending our 120th Anniversary Gala and by supporting our expansion/renovation plans through sponsoring one or more of the BDN events during our year of Celebration.
